Wounded Bird
The wounded warrior hits the ground
A feather torn broken winged bird
Feeling the rain as it pours down
In the mindset of the pain observed
Lost sight of all the battles conquered
Hear it now as it stirs to fly
Fear it now as it refuses to die
Wounded bird in its broken cry
Stuck in the mud where it lies
But somehow this bird continues to try
To fly
Away
Heaven has no place for me
Or so it says as it tries to breathe
And hell has no room for me
Or so it says as it tries to flee
But the darkness shadows its company
Hear it now as it stirs to fly
Fear it now as it refuses to die
Wounded bird in its broken cry
Stuck in the mud where it lies
But somehow this bird continues to try
To fly
Away
Somewhere deep within the forest walls
Within the bending trees a raven calls
Underneath where broken branches fall
A soul fights to rise from it all
Continues fighting even feeling so small
Hear it now as it stirs to fly
Fear it now as it refuses to die
Wounded bird in its broken cry
Stuck in the mud where it lies
But somehow this bird continues to try
To fly
Away
You don't need wings to fly
No need for the sun in the sky
When your soul shines within you fly
You don't need wings to touch the sky
So breathe and don't you fear
The shadows that linger near
Hear it now as it stirs to fly
Fear it now as it refuses to die
Wounded bird in its healing cry
Rising from the mud where it lies
Yes, somehow this bird continues to try
To fly
Away
Hear it now fear it now watch it fly
Away
Watch it rise watch it fly there it flies
Away
Away
