So When the Lights Go Out, What Then
Early morning texts are a little mental
I understand you're struggling in your physical
Life will always shift the ride through obstacles
You're not the only one to ride the bull
You say you're tired you're thinking of dying
And lately you spend your nights crying
Saying life is too hard and unsatisfying
Spending your years you're tired of fighting
So when the lights go out what then
And your body's left for me to bury
Another suicide another senseless end
What do I tell my children then
When fire and ice collide it's where we meet
Your shadows try to chill my bones in your defeat
Before the blood flow of your river stains my feet
This time your waters won't pull me down beneath
I won't drown with you but I'll hold you up
Above the waters long enough
Until you can swim back to shore
Hold on just a little more
You say no one will know your gone
I tell you that's where you got it all wrong
Suicide death is a lingering song
That haunts even the strongest of strong
The broken remain broken you say
Where you are it storms everyday
But we've all felt the storms come our way
Leave us debris and the stinch of decay
So when the lights go out what then
And your body's left for me to bury
Another suicide another senseless end
What do I tell my children then
When fire and ice collide it's where we meet
Your shadows try to chill my bones in your defeat
Before the blood flow of your river stains my feet
This time your waters won't pull me down beneath
I won't drown with you but I'll hold you up
Above the waters long enough
Until you can swim back to shore
Hold on just a little more
Oh the haunting of your words continue
It's like you're begging me to save you
But no one can save you but you
No one can steer the bull but you
So when the lights go out what then
And your body's left for me to bury
Another suicide another senseless end
What do I tell my children then
When fire and ice collide it's where we meet
Your shadows try to chill my bones in your defeat
Before the blood flow of your river stains my feet
This time your waters won't pull me down beneath
I won't drown with you but I'll hold you up
Above the waters long enough
Until you can swim back to shore
Hold on just a little more
So keep the lights on tonight
Hold on just a little more
Welcome in the daylight
Hold on just a little more
Soon it's gonna be alright
